Coronavirus Task Force Church Update

Dear GFUMC Members,

Our Coronavirus Task Force held a virtual meeting Thursday evening, Dec. 10, with several local medical professionals participating, including Northeast Georgia Health System’s chief of medical staff, Dr. Clifton Hastings. Based on their recommendation, our Task Force has decided to suspend in-person gatherings at our Church, effective immediately. This includes all worship services, as well as small group meetings. These events will be conducted in an all-virtual format until further notice.

Prayers abound for the communities in the path of devastation from Hurricane Laura. UMCOR stands with you now and will support you on the long road of recovery ahead. UMCOR is providing funding to meet immediate needs and will continue to work with conferences in the days and months to come.

During this time, you can help, too, by giving to U.S. Disaster Response. 100% of your gift directly supports UMCOR and its partners in the work of alleviating human suffering and advancing hope and healing. Give at http://umcmission.org/umcor.

Since we usually get more rain in the fall, we want to easily share with you when Lakeside Worship and/or Chapel Lakeside gets rained out.

Simply text the word "Lakeside" to 470-291-0215 to be added to our Lakeside Updates list.

We'll text you around 7:30am on Sunday mornings when Lakeside Worship is rained out, or around 5pm when Chapel Lakeside is rained out.

PS: Since our building is currently closed due to the pandemic, on rain out days we will not meet in person. So join us for worship online at 8:30am and 7pm at gfumc.com.

Staff Update

In the interest of being fully transparent with our congregation, I must share that a member of our staff tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, June 18. That staff member has been quarantined at home, and the entire church building has been sanitized and our staff have taken necessary precautions. Please keep this staff member and their family in your prayers.
