PRAYER MINISTRY
GFUMC wants to be here for you - as a church community and as prayer partners. You can submit a prayer request directly to our pastors. They would love to pray for you.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. Through confidential one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love, care, and support they need.
CARING FOR THE CAREGIVER
Caring for loved ones experiencing issues with aging and dementia can be challenging. Gathering with others in similar situations to share experiences, gain insights, and receive encouragement can be helpful. In partnership with Brenau University, GFUMC hosts an ongoing support group facilitated by trained, graduate level psychology students on Thursdays from 2 – 3 pm in the Connect Café. Contact Mildred Smith for more information at msmith@gfumc.com.
HEALING HALLELUJAH MINISTRIES
Hope and reconciliation are found as experiences with grief are shared with one another in a small group setting. Each meeting includes a Scripture reading, a short lesson that unites the Scripture and the topic of the day, a song, and questions for discussion. Dr. Doug and BJ Jensen lead this group on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month from 3 – 4pm in S-27. Contact them at drdougj@gmail.com or ms.bjjensen@gmail.com. All who have experienced the death of a loved one are welcome.
SENIOR LIVING WORSHIP MINISTRY
Throughout the month we offer brief worship services with fellowship, singing, a devotion, prayer and communion for residents at 14 different locations typically in the late morning or early afternoon. 3-4 volunteers are needed for each service for a variety of roles. Scheduling is flexible. Contact Jim Reavis at jreavis@gfumc.com for more information.
QUILTING MINISTRY
This team makes prayer quilts for those facing serious illness and for clients of Family Promise. Baby quilts are made as baptismal gifts. A third project is drawstring cloth bags for our outreach in Hondruas. Whether your gift is to cut or to stitch, all are welcome on the 1st Thursday of the month from 10am – 12pm in S-51 for planning, sharing and to get materials. Much of the sewing is completed at home. Contact Carol Sowers for more information at 770.540.9686 or casowers@charter.net
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
The Prayer Shawl Ministry knits and crochets shawls, hats and throws for members of the church who are ill and others in our community who find themselves in a time of crisis. With every stitch a prayer is offered for the recipient that they might be wrapped in God’s love. They meet the first Thursday of the month from 1 - 3pm in the Connect Café. Contact Pam Cameron at umapc7@gmail.com for more information.
ADDICTION SUPPORT GROUPS
GFUMC supports persons seeking to recover from addiction and provides space for community groups to meet on our campus.
RECREATION MINISTRIES
The Recreation Ministry provides programs and activities to promote health and well-being for all. Everything is designed to help develop participants mentally, physically and spiritually.
