April 10 / By appointment
Life Line Screening will be at GFUMC on April 10 to offer preventive health screenings to help individuals identify their risk for various cardiovascular and bone-related conditions. Their comprehensive screening package includes five key tests:
Carotid Artery Disease Screening: Utilizes ultrasound to detect fatty plaque buildup in the carotid arteries, a leading cause of stroke.
Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Screening: Employs the Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) test with blood pressure cuffs on the arms and legs to identify PAD, which increases the risk of heart attack or stroke.
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening: Uses ultrasound to check for enlargements or aneurysms in the abdominal aorta that could lead to life-threatening ruptures.
Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Screening: Conducts a 6-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) by placing sensors on the arms and legs to detect irregular heart rhythms associated with AFib, which can lead to blood clots, stroke, and heart failure.
Osteoporosis Risk Assessment: Measures bone density in the shin bone using ultrasound to assess the risk of osteoporosis, a condition where bones become weak and brittle.
