Living a Cross-Shaped Life

Sundays during Lent

Lent is a season of reflection, perseverance, and transformation as we journey toward the cross. In this series, we follow Christ’s example of victory over temptation, steadfast faith, and the call to live as people of God’s kingdom. Each week, we will explore how Scripture invites us to resist spiritual complacency, embrace reconciliation, and press on toward our ultimate goal—knowing Christ more fully. As we prepare our hearts for Easter, we will be challenged to take intentional steps of faith, seeking God’s strength and grace in every step of the journey.

March 9: Victory Over Temptation (Luke 4:1-13)

We begin in the wilderness, where Jesus demonstrates how to resist temptation and rely on the power of God’s Word. His example calls us to face our struggles with faith and perseverance.

Identify your "wilderness": Reflect on areas where you feel most tested or tempted.

March 16: Living as Kingdom People (Philippians 3:17-4:1)

As citizens of heaven, we are invited to live with our eyes on eternity, imitating Christ and standing firm in the face of challenges.

Focus on eternity: Set aside time to reflect on your long-term goals and how they align with God’s purposes.

March 23: Learning from the Past (1 Corinthians 10:1-13)

By reflecting on the story of God’s people, we are reminded of His faithfulness and our need to remain vigilant in avoiding spiritual complacency.

Avoid complacency: Identify one habit or area where you've become spiritually "stuck" and take a step to address it.

March 30: Reconciled by Grace (2 Corinthians 5:16-21)

Christ’s work on the cross reconciles us to God and makes us new creations. In this grace, we find our mission: to be ambassadors of reconciliation in the world.

Be an ambassador: Share God’s grace with one person this week through a simple act of kindness or encouragement.

Make peace: Identify someone you need to reconcile with and take one step toward forgiveness or restoration.

April 6: Striving Toward the Goal (Philippians 3:4b-14)

As we near the cross, we are called to press on, leaving behind distractions and pressing forward toward the prize of knowing Christ fully.

Press on: Commit to showing perseverance in one area of your life where you're tempted to give up.
