College students tend to be the most disconnected group from the church, and a lot of the time it is because they feel as though they are forgotten. We hope that through our Adopt a College Student ministry program, we will help to create personal relationships between our sponsors and students. In a world that is more connected than ever, many people experience isolation as never before as well. College students are not exempt. We believe strongly that you can help students stay connected to Jesus, faith and the Body of Christ at GFUMC. We believe it’s personal.
Semester Requirements:
Prepare two care packages per semester for your student (we’ll do our best to let you know when finals are coming up)
Pray for them constantly (ask them for prayer requests)
Speak to them (in text or phone call) at least twice a month
Send a card or hand written note monthly (consider including a $5 gift card)
After you adopt a student, we will email you a packet with their picture and some personal information. We hope you’ll get to know them and contact them regularly.
